Who has time to blog?

Apparently I do for just a few minutes tonight - but usually I don't. Let's see, where to begin. Evan, I am so in love with Evan. I told Steven it truly is possible to love two men at the same time. :) Just in a different way. And with Evan I'll eventually want him out of the house :)

Evan is getting so big so fast. He's 2 1/2 months and he's huge! He is solidly in 3-6 month clothes size but not for long. He's really been using his legs lately to push and move. He is still rolling over from his belly to back. He loves his mobile and loves for people to talk to him. He smiles more than Sara or Liza did at this age. He sleeps from 8pm to 7:30 am everything! ANGEL! He's only peed on me once but has peed on his face a couple times already.

Sara, she's hard right now. She challenges me, is tempermental, bossy, dramatic (about everything), a know it all, too smart for her age but all is redeemed in that she is my little evangelist. She has a wonderful heart for God and Jesus and openly confesses his place in her life. Very cool. She's also beautiful and cheerful and ALL girl. Love it! Love that I have a lifetime of girly bonding ahead of me.

Liza is so cute right now. Everything out of her mouth is precious. She has a wonderful imagination, she is equally as smart as Sara. She loves to sing, she has the most amazing laugh/giggle. She loves to please. She is amazing playing all by herself. Right now she wants to be right next to me everytime I'm in the kitchen watching and helping me cook. I love that. She is easily more friendly intially than Sara. She REFUSES to be potty trained right now. She drinks more liquid in a day than the rest of the family put together. She is like her Daddy in that she loves all things sweet and choclately. She has a special style of her own.

Okay, that's an update on the kiddos. Such blessings!

We love Fall!

Birthday plans

Sara is non-stop talk about her birthday coming up December 6th. She'll be 5. Tonight she tells me when I put her to bed: "Mom, I think you need to get me more than one present. I think you need to get me a present, Daddy needs to get me a present and Liza needs to get me a present and you can buy one for Evan to give me too." She's no fool. But so not going to happen. Maybe two gifts, one from Mommy and Daddy and one from Liza and Evan. :)

No kidding...

Liza tried to pick MY nose this weekend. Seriously. See older posts. I think she has a problem.

My handsome boys.

Picnic in the playhouse

At the request of Sara we had a picnic in the playhouse on Monday. It was a beautiful day outside, a little windy but otherwise perfect. This was the first time the girls had an apple without me first peeling it and cutting it up. Liza has had one everyday since then and if she seems me eating one, she takes it. And of course Evan couldn't miss the picnic so he joined us, but he apparently thought it was a snooze because he slept the whole time. Liza thought it was cool to throw food over the side.

More picking...

I heard Evan crying today, came into the room to find Liza picking his nose. I told her to stop. Liza says "but Momma, he has a boogie." She has such a heart for others. Or, she just likes picking noses. So now not only has she used HIS finger to pick HER nose, she's picked HIS nose too. Just keeping it all in the family.

Pick your Sister

Something I never thought I'd say: "Liza, stop picking your nose with Evan's finger." Apparently you can pick your sister. :)

First time for 5 at the zoo!

We took Evan to the zoo for the first time today. This was the first time we've all gone together, as a family of 5. It was great. We didn't like having two strollers all day but hopefully that won't last too long. Liza loves watching the animals, Sara loves watching the people.
as you can see, Evan had a great time. This is pretty much what he did the whole day. We did our best to make sure he stayed cool and dry and fed. What more can you ask for? I'm sure it will be a memorable experience for him.Apparently, we wore them all out. They all fell asleep on the way home. If you look in the tiny mirror you can see that Evan is also sleeping. It was almost like a date for Steven and I in the front seat, or would have been had I not kept nodding off :)

The good, bad and crazy from this week...

This is the crazy...sort of

1. Okay, this is Liza being a little crazy. I think it's her Bret Michaels impression. 2. Again, Liza. This is why we have not yet removed the railing.
3. Something unrelated to my kids but definitely crazy - we went to the zoo today and I was shocked by how many people were not wearing shoes. I'm serious. One of the barefoot men also had on a long ladies skirt. It's just strange and gross.

The bad...sort of

1. Liza knows she's not supposed to be crawling behind Daddy's guitars...This is Liza being bad. Her face says she knows it too. 2. Also bad...this is my poor laptop now being held together with binder clips.
3. This week Liza also learned she can make Evan cry by her crying and then they both cry and it seems like a competition because neither will stop crying until the other one does and then I can't get either one to stop and then I want to cry.

4. Liza peed in the floor twice this week (see number 6. on "The Good" post) makes it feel not so productive, both figuratively, literally it clearly was.

5. There is a colony of crickets living in our basement, believe me, this is bad.

The good, bad and crazy from this week...

This is the good...

1. Evan is 4 weeks old! He has rolled over already, the first time being at 1 week old.
2. Evan is sleeping 6-7.5 hours a night! Woo hoo! "Someone turn off the lights"
3. I love that I have two babies that still sleep like this. Super sweet feet!
4. Sara started pre-school this week. She goes three days a week. She had a great week and seems enthusiastic about the new school year. Liza insisted she also have a first day of school photo taken even though she's staying home. Still cute. Liza struggled a little the first day Sara was gone and wanted to be with her. But adjusted fine by the end of the week. Something I (Momma) learned this week from Sara going to school - Sara is my mess maker. Liza didn't make messes when she played while Sara was at school.
5. The new year started at church - Sara is a Cubbie in AWANA this year and Liza is a Puggle.

6. Liza pooped in the potty this week. Didn't think you'd want a picture of that.

Evan rolled over AGAIN! He's going to be hard to keep up with!

Prayer time

We pray each night with the girls. Liza's prayers for the last six months have only been this: "Daddy goes to work. Amen." Love it.

Well tonight she stepped it up a bit. She prayed: "Thank you that Mommy and Daddy picked up my toys. Amen."

Some Lami

Both girls like salami, I love that Liza calls it some lami instead of saying salami.

1 week old

Evan rolled over today from his belly to his back. Steven and I both were blessed to witness it. It is safe to say he did not enjoy tummy time today. He slept 6 hours last night which was wonderful although we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy it because Liza cried all night. She is having a little trouble adjusting. Glad I waited to start potty training her.

Our newest addition

Evan was born on July 29th at 11:58 p.m. after 17 hours of labor. We didn't find out ahead of time the gender of the baby but we both assumed we would have another little girl. We were genuinely surprised that we now have a little boy. We are so excited to begin this new adventure of parenting a little boy.

The title of the blog is now changing to Joy Happiness and Delight. When Sara was born I started calling her Joy occasionally because that word best described how she made me feel. Next Liza came along and essentially named herself Happiness because that is just her personality and the mood around her. I have chosen the word Delight for our Evan. I was inspired by the verse "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4. So, now our blog is titled Joy, Happiness and Delight :)

Except McDonalds...

Sara says tonight "I will not go anywhere without Evan, except McDonalds." I guess we all have exceptions.

More of Evan

Evan Isaac Davis

Sara and Liza made this with the help of my sister for Evan's homecoming. They are going to be great big sisters.

Poser

Cookies anyone?

Here are the girls making Daddy's favorite, chocolate chip cookies. They turn out extra sweet when made by my little girls. The clean-up wasn't that bad.

He takes requests

The girls love to request songs from Daddy and sing and dance along. I prefer the role of spectator.

Summer Shots

Our beautiful Sara on the train at the zoo. We took a trip to the zoo, one of our favorite places. I was 37, almost 38 weeks pregnant. Let's just say it was a short trip.

Just catching my Liza in her most common mood! Happiness!

I've heard 3 is a crowd

They say two is company and 3 is a crowd, but as the youngest of 3 girls I disagree.

Any day now we will be welcoming Baby #3. We are so excited to meet and discover our new addition. We are so excited to learn whether we will have three little girls in this house or whether a little boy will be added to the mix. Either way they will be loved beyond measure. Check back in the near future to be surprised along with us!

Liza's VBS Song

The song lyrics are "I am so H A P P Y and I will tell you why. I know that my God loves me, He shows me all the time."

Disney

We will try and post more pics from the other 5 days. It will just take a little time to go through them all.

More Day 2 pics

Liza couldn't take all the excitement. She fell asleep while Sara was getting her makeover at the Bibbiddi Bobbidi Boutique.

Sara's fairy godmother doing her hair.

Sara fluffing her hair while talking to Cinderella, or as Liza says "Cella"

With Sara's favorite princess, Aurora.

Ooops

Liza decided to climb into the tub with Sara while I wasn't looking. She was fully clothed, tennis shoes and all. She clearly regretted her decision.

Easter 2010

Family Easter pic - and my last Easter for being pregnant :) Woo Hoo!

so blessed.

More Easter

Watching as Grandma and Grandpa leave.

Easter 2010

The girls eating cake and strawberries. Liza is serious about her strawberries.

We found Liza, trying to get through as many jellybeans from her Easter basket as possible before she was discovered.

We had a wonderful Easter with family. So blessed to have such a wonderful family and such a faithful Savior.
